An early mahogany stick barometer by the renowned London maker Peter Dollond. The mahogany chevron veneered case having an architectural pediment to the top and a bulbous turned cistern cover fitted over the boxwood cistern with a portable screw.
Peter Dollond, 1730-1820, was appointed optician to King George III, in partnership with his father John between 1752-61 and then his younger brother, also John, 1766-1804.
