George III Cuban mahogany, herring bone veneered stick barometer. This barometer from Penzance, Cornwall has it's original early glass bulb cistern still fitted, a feature most unusual to see. The turned cistern is cover decorated with an ebony and probably holly roundel. The silvered register plate is fitted with a mercury thermometer and manual vernier gauge. The plate is engraved 'R. Dunken , Penzance'. c.1770-80.
