The edge moulded mahogany case is herring bone veneered and outlined with chequer stringing with the good feature of a nicely shaped glazed door and fitted with a broken arch pediment and brass finial.
The engraved and silvered scale plate is fitted with a spirit thermometer and manual vernier and engraved with the maker's name 'P. Barbon, Fecit'.
The exposed tube is fitted with a glass bulb cistern which is concealed behind a turned mahogany cistern cover with ebony and ivory roundel decoration.
P.Barbon is listed as working at 281 Holborn, London , between 1780-1830.
