Bregazzi, Nottingham. c.1825-30.

This is a very fine quality 2 dial Regency mahogany wheel barometer. The case is veneered with highly figured flame mahogany of the best quality, the edge being outlined with ebony and boxwood stringing. The elegant pediment uses mahogany and satinwood mouldings in an rare design to top the barometer and make it stand out from the more common swan neck or broken pediments.
The high quality cast brass bezel is also note worthy, it is very unusual in that it is half convex and half concave giving it an 'ogee' profile.
The well engraved silvered dial is signed 'Bregazzi, Nottingham'. Two brothers, Innocent & Peter Bregazzi, are recorded as working from High Pavement, Nottingham c.1825-40.

Height 38".
